Two Men Charged Following Vehicle Pursuit in Jamestown, Falconer, Town of Poland

June 10, 2019 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man and a man from Pennsylvania face several charges after a high-speed police chase took place last Saturday afternoon – leading police through the city and nearby Falconer and the Town of Ellicott before finally ending in the Town of Poland.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. Saturday when members of the Jamestown Police Department were alerted to two suspicious men in a maroon pickup trick in the area of Palmer Street and Highland Avenue.

Police say the driver, identified as 24-year-old Cody Dickerson of Jamestown, took off at a high rate of speed after officers tried to stop the vehicle.

A pursuit then took place that resulted in two crashes with other bystander vehicles, before finally ending on Falconer-Frewsburg Road after the truck stopped functioning due to heavy damage.

Both Dickerson and a passenger – identified as 43-year-old Steven Blankenship, then fled into a wooded area but were eventually taken into custody.

Dickerson was charged with 26 vehicle and traffic violations, along with other charges for disobeying and fleeing from police.
Blankenship was charged with two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Jamestown Police were assisted by the New York State police, along with officers from the Town of Ellicott, Lakewood-Busti, and the Sheriff’s Office.
