Jamestown Police Officer Injured While Arresting Suspect Near Jamestown High School

September 19, 2016 By WRFA Radio 5 Comments

Jamestown Police BadgeJAMESTOWN – A Jamestown Police Officer was treated for a broken nose Monday morning after being headbutted by a city resident who was being placed under arrest.

A report from the Jamestown Police Department says the incident took place Monday morning just before 8:30 a.m. when officers spotted 18 year-old Robert Blakey Jr. walking in the area of 350 E. Second St. Police say Blakey was wanted on a charge of 3rd degree Assault and 2nd degree Reckless Endangerment, due to an incident that took place over the weekend.

When officers approached Blakey he allegedly ran away from officers, refusing to stop and proceeding to run toward Jamestown High School. Officers were able to catch Blakey on the terrace near the pick up/drop off area of the school grounds. He allegedly continued to refuse officers’ commands during the arrest, and at one point he reportedly pushed back into an officer  and abruptly moved his head backwards, striking the officer in the face and nose area.

Blakey was eventually taken into custody and charged with 2nd degree Assault (felony), Resisting Arrest, 2nd degree Obstructing Governmental Administration, 3rd degree Assault, and 2nd degree Reckless Endangerment. He is being held in the city jail pending arraignment.

The officer who was struck in the face had to have medical treatment for a broken nose resulting from the incident.

I commed the police, with every call they never know what they might be walking into, yet that is what they do to Protect us. People get mad because of tickets and arrests but if they were not doing anything to get the tickets or arrested I wonder if they would not get so upset? Oh, that’s comments sense, sorry. LoL.

I for one appreciate our Police Department and the Service of our Police Officers. Thank you. It takes a special kind of person to become a police officer.
