Reed Hosts Third Annual Manufacturing Summit at Finger Lakes Community College

July 24, 2017 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

Rep. Tom Reed (R-Corning)

CANANDAIGUA – Congressman Tom Reed (R-Corning, NY 23) held his annual manufacturing summit for the 23rd congressional district Friday at Finger Lakes Community College.

The summit is designed to highlight manufacturing successes in the region, as well as allow leaders in manufacturing an opportunity to meet with one another and share ideas and concerns in order to help strengthen the manufacturing sector.

It also gave local manufacturers the opportunity to learn about resources that are available to help them grow and maintain their workforce.

“We’re having multiple panels listening to manufacturers on the front lines. Supply chains management, issues of trade and tax reform will be discussed,” Reed said during his weekly conference call earlier in the week. “As we sit on the committee and write the tax codes for America, one of the voices I’m making sure is heard is the voice for U.S. Manufacturing when it comes to our broken tax code.”

According to Congressman Reed’s Office, this year’s summit brought together national and regional manufacturing leaders and included three panels: high income employable training models, tax reform and opportunities for manufacturers, and federal policy and local business opportunities.

It was the third annual manufacturing summit that Congressman Reed has hosted. Reed serves as co-chair of the House Manufacturing Caucus.
