MORNING NEWS: Jamestown Police Officer Charged in Off-Duty Incident

WEST ELLICOTT – An officer with the Jamestown Police Department has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested following an off-duty incident at his Town of Ellicott home. According the town of Ellicott Police Department, officer Michael Bush was charged with obstructing governmental administration following an incident that took place on Thursday, Jan. 17 at a home on Baker St. Extension.

Officers were called to the residence and Bush was found in the home armed with a weapon, threatening harm to himself. After three hours of speaking to Bush, he finally allowed police to get him medical attention.

Bush was charged with obstructing governmental administration in the 2nd degree because he failed to immediately come with police when they initially arrived at the scene. Bush was arraigned in the Town of Ellicott Court Tuesday in front of Judge Gerace and was released under Supervision of Probation.

Assisting at the scene were also Celoron Rescue, Jamestown Police, Lakewood-Busti Police, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office and the New York State Police.

According to a news release by the Jamestown Police Department, Bush has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
