Major Drug Investigation Results in Raid, Arrest of Two Men in Falconer

The items that were confiscated by police following the arrest of two men during a drug raid in Falconer on Monday, May 15, 2017.

FALCONER – Two men are behind bars and a large amount of drugs have been taken off the streets following a drug raid that took place Monday in the village of Falconer.

Jamestown Police Chief Harry Snellings and Ellicott Police Chief William Ohnmeiss Jr. held a joint press conference Tuesday afternoon to go over the details of the arrest, as well as present the money, drugs, and hang gun that were confiscated during the drug raid.

Police say an ongoing investigation into the sale and trafficking of illegal narcotics in the Jamestown area led investigators from the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, NYSP CNET, and the Town of Ellicott Police Department to conduct two separate search warrants at 19 S. Work St. on Monday afternoon in Falconer.

The searches resulted in two arrests and the total seizure of about three quarters a pound of cocaine, more than $21,000 in cash, and the recovery of a loaded 9mm pistol that was later found to be stolen from Erie, Pa.

Investigators charged Demario Chatman, 38, with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (1st Degree: A-1 Felony) as his apartment was found to contain more than 9 oz. of cocaine and cash.

Chatmon is also being charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon (3rd degree) asthe stolen loaded pistol and brass knuckles were also recovered in his apartment.  He was also found to be in possession of 9 grams of crack cocaine once he was searched in the city jail and faces an additional charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (3rd degree).

Investigators also charged Damien Thomas, 39, with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (3rd degree) and criminal possession of marijuana (4th degree) as his apartment was found to contain about 2 ounces of cocaine and more than 3 ounces of marijuana.

Both men were arrested and sent to the city jail for arraignment.
