Jamestown Man Indicted Following Federal Investigation Into Trafficking of Ecstasy

June 29, 2016 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

Court GavelBUFFALO – U.S. Attorney William Hochul Jr. announced Tuesday that a federal grand jury has returned a 14 count indictment against three men – including one from Jamestown – for conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.

Hochul said that 32 year-old Barrett Johnson of Jamestown – along with 47 year old Richard Clarke, a Canadian citizen residing in Buffalo and 31 year-old Joshua Castro of Buffalo face charges that carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $1,000,000. In addition, Castro is charged with possession with intent to distribute controlled substances which is also punishable by 20 years in prison.

According to the media release from Hochul’s office, the investigation began in February of 2015 when Clarke was identified through surveillance as the supplier of MDA and MDMA, also known as ecstasy or molly, to Johnson over a 10-month period.  According to the report, much of the trafficking took place in the Buffalo area, where Johnson ran a barbershop business.
