\"Election\"<\/a>MAYVILLE – Ten of the 19 Chautauqua County legislature districts feature contested races for the 2013 elections \u2013 and of those ten races, three will feature a major party primary.<\/p>\n

As WRFA previously reported in June, the legislature\u2019s District 16<\/strong> race, which covers the towns of Carroll, Poland and Kiantone, will feature Tami Downey<\/strong> (Kiantone) squaring off against Ron Lemon<\/strong> (Frewsburg) in a Republican primary. Incumbent Tom Earlandson<\/strong> is running again for the Democrats. <\/p>\n

The District 18<\/strong> race will also feature a Republican party primary as Fred Crosscut<\/strong> (Sherman) faces David Himelein<\/strong> (Findley Lake). Both men currently sit on the legislature but because of redistricting and downsizing the legislature, they now share the same district, which includes the towns of Chautauqua, Sherman and Mina.\u00a0 Democrat Ed Carutis<\/strong> of Sherman is also running for that seat.<\/p>\n

And two woman will be vying for the Democratic line on the ballot for the legislature\u2019s District 5<\/strong> seat, which covers four towns in the northeastern part of they county. They are Amy Farnham<\/strong> (Forestville) and Susan Baldwin<\/strong> (South Dayton). Republican Terry Niebel<\/strong>, a former county board of elections commissioner, is also running for that seat.<\/p>\n
