One of the major events of the 2013 Big Read is happening tonight in Fredonia. Author James L. Haley<\/strong>, who wrote an biography on Jack London entitled \u201cWolf,\u201d\u00a0 – will appear on Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House<\/strong> to deliver a talk entitled, \u201cRediscovering Jack London.\u201d<\/p>\n

A nationwide program to promote literacy in the community, the Big Read is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), via Arts Midwest. The grant allows Reed Library at SUNY Fredonia to purchase books for distribution to public libraries and reading groups in both Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties. \u00a0This year\u2019s Big Read novel is Jack London\u2019s \u201cThe Call of the Wild.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tonight\u2019s event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n
