\"\"<\/a>JAMESTOWN – Much of Chautauqua County is dealing with more than a foot of snow that has fallen on the area overnight Wednesday, creating challenges for morning commuters and leading to all schools in the area being closed for the day.<\/p>\n

In addition to Jamestown Public Schools, all other schools in the WRFA listening area were closed for Wednesday, Nov. 28, including Falconer, Southwestern, Frewsburg, Bemus Point, Cassadaga Valley, Panama, Chautauqua Lake and Bethel Baptist Christian Academy.<\/p>\n

Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello issued a travel advisory Wednesday for Chautauqua County. County officials are advising no unnecessary travel throughout the county due to weather conditions. Individuals who are traveling are advised to slow down and use extreme caution. Borrello also engaged the Inclement Weather Policy for all non-essential Chautauqua County employees. Non-essential employees are not required to report to work.<\/p>\n

The public should call county offices they planned to conduct business with today to ensure they are open.<\/p>\n

For those attempting to make it to work or another destination you are advised to use extra caution and allow plenty of extra time to reach your destination. Also, anticipate reduced visibility at times in blowing snow.<\/p>\n

The winter storm we are currently experiencing first hit the area on Tuesday morning, causing tricky driving conditions throughout Chautauqua County.\u00a0 The Post-Journal is reporting that several tractor-trailers became stuck after being unable to traverse the snow- and ice-covered roads.<\/p>\n

The New York State Police reported Route 60, from Gerry to Fredonia, had several stranded motorists due to stuck tractor-trailers that caused traffic to back up.<\/p>\n

I-90 in the Erie, PA area was also closed down to traffic for a period of time due to the weather.<\/p>\n

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for all of Chautauqua County until 6 p.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
