JAMESTOWN – All voters in the city of Jamestown will have a decision to make when it’s time to choose members of the Jamestown City Council <\/strong>during the November election.<\/p>\n According to the Chautauqua County Board of Elections<\/strong>, 14 candidates submitted petitions to run for the nine city council seats, with six of those candidates vying for the three at-large seats. In addition, three of the six ward seats will also be contested.<\/p>\n Contested races for the nine council\u00a0 seats include:<\/p>\n At Large – Incumbent and current City Council President Gregory Rabb<\/strong> (D), incumbent Kim Ecklund<\/strong> (R), Michael Laurin<\/strong> (R), Andrew Liuzzo<\/strong> (R), Vanessa Weinert<\/strong> (D), and Robert Whitney<\/strong> (D). Current at large council member George Spitale<\/strong> is not seeking reelection.<\/p>\n Ward 1 – Incumbent Brent Sheldon<\/strong> (R) is facing challenger James Walton<\/strong> (D).<\/p>\n Ward 2 – Incumbent Tony Dolce<\/strong> (R) is facing challenger Joseph Scapelitte<\/strong> (D).<\/p>\n Ward 4 – Incumbent Marie Carrubba<\/strong> (D) is facing challenger Richard Elardo<\/strong> (R).<\/p>\n Incumbents running unopposed include Vicki James<\/strong> (D-Ward 3), Maria Jones<\/strong> (D-Ward 5), and Tom Nelson<\/strong> (D-Ward 6).<\/p>\n There is no mayoral\u00a0 race for this year, with\u00a0 the next mayoral election set for 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" JAMESTOWN – All voters in the city of Jamestown will have a decision to make when it’s time to choose members of the Jamestown City Council during the November election.
