\"Chautauqua<\/a>ELLICOTT – A Gerry woman has died following a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Harris Hill Rd. in the town of Ellicott Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office<\/strong> say 35 year-old Jill Hamrick<\/strong> died as a result of injuries sustained from a near head-on collision with another vehicle.<\/p>\n

The accident took place at about 1:40 p.m. Investigators say Hamrick was traveling south when her vehicle was struck by an oncoming vehicle operated by 40 year-old Kerry Jo Mitchener<\/strong>, who was traveling north bound. Mitchener told investigators that she was distracted when she reached for an item in her vehicle and veered into the vehicle operated by Hamrick.<\/p>\n

Hamrick had to be freed from her vehicle by Falconer rescue using the jaws of life. She was then transported to WCA Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n

Mitchener sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to WCA hospital for treatment. She was charged with failure to keep right and will appear in town of Ellicott court at a later date.<\/p>\n

Harris Hill Road was closed for approximately three hours while the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction team investigated the scene.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
