\"Chautauqua<\/a>JAMESTOWN – The New York State Department of health<\/strong> has selected the Chautauqua County Health Network <\/a><\/strong>(CCHN) as one of 25 organizations statewide to help increase access to healthy foods and opportunities for physical activity in high need communities.<\/p>\n

On Friday, CCHN officials announced that several local school districts will benefit from a five-year, $1.25 million grant from the state\u2019s Creating Healthy Schools and Communities<\/strong><\/a> program. The funding is being administered through a collaboration with the health network, Erie2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES<\/strong>, and the Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Service<\/strong>s.<\/p>\n

The program will be used to help implement strategies to combat obesity and other chronic diseases in high-need school districts and their surrounding communities.<\/p>\n

Six communities will be targeted with the funding, including Jamestown, Dunkirk, Cassadaga Valley, Pine Valley, Silver Creek, and Ripley.<\/p>\n

Other partnering organizations will include the Cornell Cooperative Extension<\/strong>, Dunkirk Local Development Corporation<\/strong>, Jamestown Audubon Society<\/strong>, Jamestown Renaissance Corporation<\/strong>, and KEE Concepts Consulting<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
