<\/a>MAYVILLE – The water in Forestville is safe to drink.<\/p>\nThat\u2019s according to the Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services, which received water testing results from the New York State Department of Health for the Village of Forestville public water supply.<\/p>\n
According to county health officials, water samples were collected directly from each of the Village\u2019s two wells at the start of this month, before any treatment of the water took place.\u00a0 The samples were tested for 148 chemical compounds including petroleum byproducts, herbicides, pesticides, inorganic contaminants and metals, and bacteria.<\/p>\n
The results indicate that the water is safe to drink.<\/p>\n
County health officials had requested that the state conduct an independent and comprehensive review of the Forestville wells and public water supply system after residents and users complained of a metallic taste to the water.<\/p>\n
In addition to the recent test, other testing and monitoring will continue to take place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
