The Westfield Police Department is continuing its investigation into an apparent arson that took place early Wednesday morning the village of Westfield. According to the sheriff’s office, fire crews were called to an apartment house at 41 Clinton Avenue in the village at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday. No injuries were reported but the blaze did end up destroying the building.
Following the on scene investigation, it was determined the blaze started after someone set fire to trash that was placed against the building, igniting the wooden exterior of the building. The Westfield Police will continue with a criminal investigation.
