JAMESTOWN – Today is Veterans Day and there are several activities happening around the area to recognize and thank those who’ve served in the U.S. military.
Later this morning the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 53 will gather at Veterans Memorial Park for a service honoring veterans. The event begins at 11 a.m. and the park is located along Logan Avenue and Third Street.
The American Legion will host a 21-gun salute at the corner of Third and Main streets in Jamestown following the service at Veterans Park.
The Jamestown High School Marching Band will also be on hand to play “The Star Spangled Banner” and buglers will play “Taps.”
Following the service at the corner of Third and North Main streets, there will be a ceremony held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church as well as a ceremony at Soldier’s Circle at Lake View Cemetery.
