JAMESTOWN – The public will likely find out later today whether or not charges will be filed against the Sherman hunter who shot and killed his neighbor while out hunting early in the evening on the day before Thanksgiving.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office, and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation will hold a joint press conference at 4:30 this afternoon in Mayville in regards to the fatal shooting of 43 year-old Rosemary Billquist.
34-year-old Thomas Jadlowski reportedly shot Billquist while walking she was out walking her two dogs near her home after sunset on Nov. 22.
Jadlowski told sheriff’s deputies he thought he saw a deer when he fired a single shot from a pistol. The incident reportedly took place after the legal time allowed to hunt deer.
District Attorney Patrick Swanson said earlier this week the details were being presented to a grand jury and that he would be seeking an indictment of second-degree manslaughter, a C felony, or criminally negligent homicide, an E felony.
