Six organizations and five artists have been awarded grants from the United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County.
Organizations receiving Project Pool Grant program funds include:
· Ahira Hall Memorial Library: Aspired Arts to Inspire
· Ashville Free Library: Claying around at the library
· Audubon Community Nature Center: Enchanted Forest Costume Heads
· Dunkirk Public Library: Traveling Lantern Theater Company
· Falconer Public Library: All Together Now with Art and Music
· Kennedy Free Library: Art Classes
Individual Artists receiving funds include:
· Marygrace Anderson: NYS Art Teacher Association Great Camp Sagamore Summer Institute 2023
· Thomas Annear: New Framing Space in Studio
· Sara Atkins: Natik, Volume One
· Miles Hilton: Through the Roots
· Ashley Ordines: Minutiae
In addition to providing operating support for six of the county’s larger arts organizations, the UAA makes these annual grant awards for artistic projects. To apply, organizations must have nonprofit status; individuals must have been Chautauqua County residents for at least one year and can work in any artistic discipline.

Grand Teton National Park, Sunset by Thomas Annear
JAMESTOWN – The Roger Tory Peterson Institute (RTPI) will open its newest exhibit – National Parks and Beyond: A Solo Exhibition by Thomas Annear today, with an opening reception on Friday, June 26th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
The exhibit is comprised of more than fifty landscapes painted on location in the national parks and takes viewers on a quintessential American journey—a journey of discovery, wonder, and contemplation that begins and ends with our national parks.
Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, Annear has lived and worked as an artist in a variety of places before moving to Fredonia, New York in 2000.

]]>The Creations Art Program of The Resource Center is hosting an Art Life Conference on Thursday, Nov. 1 and Friday, Nov. 2. The conference is designed to bring together art educators and professionals working with people with disabilities and high-pressure situations to network and attend workshops. An art exhibition and auction will be open to the public on November 2. The conference will be held at the Lillian V. Ney Renaissance Center.
Keynote speaker, Lucy Andrus, will open the conference on Thursday November 1. Leading workshops for the rest of Thursday will be visual artist Debra Eck, art facilitator Valeriae Walawender, Arc community relations director Lynne Sessions and hand drumming instructor, T.R. McKotch.
Among Friday’s workshop leaders are painter Thomas Annear, yoga instructor Tess Kerzner, puppet and mask-maker Renee Pye and photographer, Mark Kirsch. A live art auction and exhibit will close the conference on Friday evening.
Registration for each day is $50.
