Home for the Holidays: Christmas at The Reg is scheduled Saturday, Dec. 17 at 4 p.m. The concert is family-friendly and priced affordably as a “thank you” to the Jamestown and greater Chautauqua community.

Hosted by WRFA General Manager and founding member of 10,000 Maniacs, Dennis Drew, the concert will feature familiar holiday and seasonal songs across music genres.

Performing will be high school choirs The Maple Grove Voices and Westfield High School Westwinds, Celtic music from Sue Tillotson & Jim Cunningham, rhythm and blues from Steve Davis & Marla Harris, classic barbershop vocals from The Jamestown Harmony Express, bluegrass from Matt Gronquist, Bumpy Peterson & Ken Hardley, rock from The Porcelain Bus Drivers and a special performance from Broadway’s Ron Orbach (Chicago, The Producers.) The jolly old elf, himself – Santa Claus – will also make an appearance.

Christmas at The Reg is sponsored by Comfort Inn of Jamestown, Key Bank, DFT Communications and WRFA.

The holiday concert sees The Reg close out a calendar year that included over 50 movies, 7 Reg Presents live events and several community partnerships including BANFF Mountain Film Festival, Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet’s Nutcracker, Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, Sprout Film Festival, Jamestown Concert Association and more.

Early in 2017, the organization will begin major renovations which include a complete lobby makeover, new offices and studios for WRFA 107.9 FM, the relocation of 3rd on 3rd Gallery to street level and new offices for staff.

Home for the Holidays: Christmas at The Reg tickets start at $5 for children and $10 for adults. Limited “Pay What You Can” seats will be available – first come, first served – the night of the performance at the box office.

The Greater Jamestown Labor Day Festival is a community celebration designed to honor the labor force of the city and surrounding area, widely recognized as the very best in the nation. All money raised is used to directly fund festival activities and support the host of non-profit community service agencies who participate.

As with past years, there will be a fireworks extravaganza by Zambelli Fireworks Internationale at the end of the festival, which begins when the final band, Two For Flinching, finishes its performance around 8:30 p.m.

The Jamestown Area Central Labor Council AFL-CIO will present a deserving member of the area workforce the George Ritzer Labor Award at 4 p.m. on the main stage.

And Chautauqua Striders will once again hold the annual Dan Feature Memorial 5k Run/Walk at 9:30 a.m. with registration starting at 8 a.m.

The Food Court opens at noon with all profits from the concessions benefitting not-for-profit organizations in the Greater Jamestown Area.

Live music will be provided throughout the day at two stages and will feature songs from various acts – including The Jamestown Harmony Express, Razzer’s Jazzers, the Bogarts, Cindy Love, We Speak Canadian, and Teachers, Preachers and Trent – along with the aforementioned Two for Flinching.

People parking their cars at Bergman Park will receive a ticket to enter into a drawing at the Information Booth for a chance to win a $100 Visa Gift card that is being sponsored by Ahlstrom Schaeffer Electric Corporation.
