YWCA Jamestown’s Broadscast features members of the local YWCA Jamestown team – Hillary Belin, Indo Quinones, Alize Scott, and Cienna Simon – discussing a variety of issues and topics with various guests from the Jamestown and Chautauqua Region.

The program covers a wide range of topics, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) issues; racial justice and civil rights; empowerment and economic advancement of women and girls; and health and safety of women and girls. Funding for the program is made possible through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

The rally is in response to the U.S. Supreme Court‘s decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, saying there is not a federal constitutional right to an abortion.

The rally is in support of the right to abortion and to support the stance that abortion is healthcare.

At noon, a march is scheduled to take place from Dow Park on West Sixth Street to Tracy Plaza on East Third Street.

Speakers at Tracy Plaza will include motivational speaker Katie Castro, local poet Autumn Echo, local dance artist Sukanya Burman, and local female political candidates and professionals Sandra Lewis and Alyssa Porter.

The rally will conclude with a march that returns to Dow Park.

JAMESTOWN – The Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet presents Dance Noir on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Willow Bay Theatre.

Dance Noir is a smaller scale performance featuring works inspired by the darkness of the late fall season including both classic variations and new contemporary works. A cash wine bar will be available before and during intermission.

CRYB executive director Elizabeth Bush and CYRB artistic director Monika Alch were guests on WRFA’s Arts on Fire program for Nov. 9 and provided details on the event, along with the upcoming Nutcracker performance on Friday, Dec. 14 and Saturday, Dec. 15.

The program features advanced level dancers from the Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet. Joining them are guest performers Megan Stefanik, a graduate of the Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet’s pre-professional program and now a dance major at the Conservatory at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, and Sukanya Burman, who instructs modern dance at the Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet. Burman, who will be performing a classical Indian dance, started her dance training in Bharatnatyam at the age of 3 in India and completed her advanced diploma from Kalamandalam Kolkata under the supervision of Guru Thankamani Kutty. The program will also include three modern works with choreography by Burman and Michael Cerwinski, a character dance to music from Carmen, and a Tarantella from Le Corsaire.

The evening is sponsored in part by Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Bag & String Wines and Brazil.

Tickets are $10 general admission and $20 for table seating.
