On the Oct. 15 presentation of Community Matters, WRFA public affairs director Jason Sample talks with Jason Toczydlowski from the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce to get more details about Restaurant Week 2015. Also featured in the interview is Sean Jones from Valhalla Restaurant and Judy Sandson from the Harvest Cafe… both located in Jamestown, NY.

37 restaurants from all over Chautauqua County are participating in Restaurant Week.  All are members of the Chamber of Commerce and have worked to provide some special offerings for patrons during the event. Here is a list of participating restaurants by community:

  • Irving:  Colony Seafood & Steakhouse, Tom’s Family Restaurant
  • Jamestown:  Brazil Craft Beer and Wine Lounge, Brick City Market, Forte, Fresco Pizza &
  • Wings, Gialy’s Restaurant, Harvest Time Café, Havana Cuban Café, Jones Valhalla, Landmark Restaurant, Pizza Hut, Shawbucks Press Room
  • Lakewood:  Southern Tier Brewing Company
  • Mayville:  Andriaccio’s Family Restaurant, Chautauqua Harbor House, J & B Mayville Diner, Lakeview Hotel and The Docks, Olive’s at Chautauqua Suites, Webb’s Captain’s Table
  • Westfield:  Jimmy’s Pizza, Parkview Café

Restaurant Week 2015 is sponsored by CHQ Local Food, Sam’s Club and the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce.  It runs from October 19-25.  Residents are being encouraged to go to at least 3 different restaurants this week to show their support.

One of those restaurants include Shawbucks Press Room in downtown Jamestown, where a special event is being planned for Wednesday afternoon.

“Meet Your Farmer: Happy Hour” will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Shawbucks. It is being coordinated by Chautauqua Local Foods (CHQ Local Foods) and will feature several local farmers who grow and produce food in Chautauqua County. The event will also feature a variety of foods, including:

  • Grass-Fed Beef Sliders w/ Shiitake Mushrooms
  • Garden Harvest Soup w/ Hickory Hurst Squash & Abers Acres Cipollini Onions
  • Picnic at CHQ Kale Salad
  • Locally Foraged Wild Mushroom Canapés

There will also be a variety of local beer, wine, and other libations on hand. The event is free to attend although some costs may apply for food and beverages.

A total of 15 restaurants throughout the county are signed up for this year’s promotion, including:

  • Bemus Point Golf Club, Bemus Point;
  • Coach’s Chatterbox, Greenhurst;
  • Forte, LaScala, and Shawbucks, Jamestown;
  • The Scallion Bistro and Pizza Hut in Lakewood.

Restaurant week features restaurants partnering with the chamber to promote special offerings and prices during the next seven days.

The first ever “Restaurant Week” in Chautauqua County begins today with 28 different restaurants participating.

According to Chamber representative Justin Hanft, the purpose of the promotion is to shine a spotlight on the chamber’s restaurant members. He adds restaurant has been challenged to come up with a special offering for customers or a creative “signature” dish for the week.

Participating restaurants are encouraged to highlight a special meal deal, either their unique dish or a menu of items, offering it for the Restaurant Week special price of just $20.13.  Chautauqua County Gift checks, available at both the Jamestown and Dunkirk offices, will be honored by all participating restaurants.  The theme of, “Dine Often, Dine Local”, sums up the week as the chamber encourages residents to enjoy the area’s fine culture and cuisine. 

Interested restaurants or sponsors can contact the Chamber at 366-6200 or 484-1101.  The deadline for restaurant commitment is Tuesday, October 1.
