Humane Society’s ‘Pennies 4 Paws’ Kicks Off February 12 https://www.wrfalp.com/humane-societys-pennies-4-paws-kicks-off-february-12/ https://www.wrfalp.com/humane-societys-pennies-4-paws-kicks-off-february-12/#respond Thu, 09 Feb 2023 11:34:24 +0000 https://www.wrfalp.com/?p=49987 The Chautauqua County Humane Society‘s Annual “Pennies 4 Paws” campaign kicks off this Sunday.

Senior Programs Director Brian Papalia said the campaign starts on February 12, which is President Abraham Lincoln‘s birthday.

He said this year’s goal is raise 2 million pennies, or $20,000 by April 30, “Something we’re really excited about this year is that we have a couple of folks that wish to remain anonymous, but they have stepped forward to create a match fund for this year. And we have a total of $6,500 in match money and the first day we’re going to utilize this is on Valentine’s Day.”

Papalia said the money donated goes right to the care of animals at the shelter, “If you have cats, you know how expensive cat litter is. We go through 24,000 pounds in cat litter a year. We have at any given time roughly 100, give or take, animals in the building. They need healthcare, they need warmth, they need medicine – it’s going to go towards that.”

Papalia said donations can be dropped in containers located at area businesses and organizations.

For any organization wanting a “Pennies 4 Paws” donation container, contact the Humane Society at 716-665-2209 and ask for Brian. You can also visit chqhumane.org for more information.

The campaign continues through April 30.

Humane Society Partnership Director Brian Papalia said funds raised during the campaign stay local and, “are critical to the proper care and rehabilitation of the animals in our shelter. We do not receive any county, state, or federal funding. In addition to those friendly and healthy animals who enter our facility, many more come to us sick or scared and in need of advanced care. When you support Pennies 4 Paws, you are saving lives.”

This year’s goal is to collect 2 million pennies, or $20,000. Donations can be made online at chqhumane.org or by dropping spare change in collection containers found at a number of area businesses.

JAMESTOWN – The Chautauqua County Humane Society’s (CCHS) 16th annual Pennies 4 Paws campaign kicks off February 12 and runs through the end of April. This campaign benefits the animals at CCHS by providing funds towards their essential care and rehabilitation as they wait to meet their adoptive families.

Community support also helps keep local animals at home with their loving families.

CCHS Director of Community Relations Brian Papalia says, “It’s important to support those animals that need just a little boost to stay with the family that they know and love. We would rather have them there, than with us at the shelter.”

Over 100 specially marked P4P containers and memorial paw prints could be found at local business and organizations throughout the county during the two-month campaign.
