The body of the man who went missing after falling off a boat in Lake Erie two weeks ago has been found.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reports 70-year old Fred Forsythe Jr. of Coudersport,
Pennsylvania was discovered on Friday in the town of Evans. Sheriff’s deputies say Forsythe, who was the captain of a fishing charter, was trying to bring a fish onto the boat when he lost his balance and fell into the Lake near Ripley.
Passengers on the boat were not familiar with how to operate the boat and were unable to get the boat turned around before Forsythe disappeared from the surface.

JAMESTOWN – The body of a missing Falconer man was recovered from Chautauqua Lake on Monday following nearly 48 hours of searching.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says divers found the body of 47-year-old Timothy Yocum around 2:50 p.m. He was first reported missing late Saturday afternoon after going for a swim.
Dozens of area first responders — including members of the county Water Emergency Team, the Sheriff’s Office Marine Division, and New York State police dive team – assisted in the search.
Yocum was identified about two and a half hours after his body was recovered Monday near Greenhurst. The incident is being treated as an accidental drowning.

MAYVILLE, NY – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its search for a missing Lakewood man who was last seen Sunday.
According to a media release sent out Monday afternoon by the sheriff’s office, 52 year-old Phillip Gibbs went missing on Sunday afternoon between the hours of 1 and 6 p.m., when he went fishing in a boat on Chautauqua Lake.
No other details have been released, but investigators are asking for any boaters who picked up a swimmer or anybody who had seen anything that may be of assistance, to phone it in.
