The National Comedy Center is presenting the performance, “An Evening of Comedy with Paul Morrissey: ICE CREAM VS EVERYTHING,” that will be held in the Lucy Desi Museum‘s Tropicana Room on March 24 and 25.

Paul Morrissey has appeared on national television shows such as CBS’s The Late, Late Show and The Late Show with David Letterman. He has headlined clubs and theaters across the country, opened theater tours for Jim Gaffigan and Tom Papa and performed at major comedy festivals including the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, the Montreux Comedy Festival and the National Comedy Center’s Lucille Ball Comedy Festival.

Morrissey will perform four shows at the Tropicana Room on Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25 at 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

The National Comedy Center stated its highest priority is keeping its visitors, employees and volunteers healthy and safe. While there are no COVID-19 cases associated with either museum, it is necessary to take these measures in order to limit the spread of this virus in accordance with recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and government officials.

The National Comedy Center will publish updates regarding the museum reopening date on its website and social media platforms, once that date has been determined.

JAMESTOWN – The National Comedy Center (NCC) has added a second Jeff Foxworthy show to the 2020 Lucille Ball Comedy Festival. The second show will take place at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, following the 7 p.m. show that same evening.

According to the NCC, the addition of the second Foxworthy show follows the near sell-out of the first show within the first few hours following public on-sale on March 3.

Pre-sale for NCC members will begin Wednesday, March 11 at noon, with Public On-Sale starting Tuesday, March 17 at noon. Foxworthy is the largest-selling comedian of all time, with more than 13 million albums sold, and one of the most respected and successful comedians in the country. He is a multiple Grammy Award nominee and a best-selling author of 26 books. Widely known for his redneck jokes, Foxworthy’s act goes well beyond that to explore the humor in everyday family interactions and human nature, with a style that has been compared to Mark Twain’s.

Both Foxworthy shows on Aug. 7, as well as a “The Legends of SNL: David Spade, Rob Schneider and Kevin Nealon” show on Aug. 8, will be held in Jamestown’s Northwest Arena, adjacent to the NCC complex.

Many other festival comedy events are currently available for public purchase at ComedyCenter.org, including late night comedy shows, Lucy legacy events and a free kids comedy show, with additional festival events to be announced in the coming months in a lineup that will celebrate comedy’s contemporary stars, rising voices, and historic legacies. The NCC and the Lucy Desi Museum are also available for tour experiences throughout the festival, with new exhibits and new artifacts debuting at both museums this spring and summer.

The Lucille Ball Comedy Festival is presented by the NCC and embodies Lucille Ball’s vision for her hometown, Jamestown, New York, to be a destination for the celebration of the comedic arts and to showcase new comedic talent from around the country. The festival attracts over 15,000 attendees annually from nearly every state in the country, who come together to share laughter while honoring the craft and contributors on stage at dozens of venues throughout Jamestown, including the National Comedy Center and the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum.

Last year’s Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, which featured comedians Sebastian Maniscalco and John Mulaney, was the largest festival in its history. In 2018, the festival celebrated the grand opening of the National Comedy Center and featured Amy Schumer, Lily Tomlin and a panel of original “Saturday Night Live” performers and writers including Dan Aykroyd, Laraine Newman and Alan Zweibel.

WRFA Public Affairs Director Jason Sample talks with Journey Gunderson, executive director of the National Comedy Center and Lucy Desi Museum about the 2016 Lucytown Half Marathon & 5K. Gunderson provides details of the event, including registration information as well as details on the headline performer, Tammy Pescatelli.

Both the 2016 Lucy Town Half Marathon and Univera Kids 2K will take place on October 9. In addition, the Lucy Town 5K will take place on October 8. The race weekend is held annually in Lucille Ball’s hometown of Jamestown. For the fourth consecutive year, Univera Healthcare is the presenting sponsor for the weekend’s events.

The Lucy Town Half Marathon & 5K race weekend has attracted participants from across the country annually since its creation in 2013, including both elite runners and Lucy fans alike. The inaugural year was headlined by Martin Short, and during the 2014 race weekend paid tribute to the iconic I Love Lucy grape stomping scene as 1,232 people set a new world record for most people treading grapes.

The weekend is a program of the National Comedy Center, which also produces the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival and operates the year-round Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum.

In addition to the races, comedian Tammy Pescatelli will be appearing in Jamestown for a performance at the Willow Bay Theater on October 8.
