A Jamestown man has been arrested after police say he fired a gun at someone in a parked vehicle.

Jamestown Police responded to 810 Washington Street just after midnight, Tuesday, August 16, to a report of gunshots.
35-year old Joshua Hammer was arrested following an investigation for using a handgun to shoot a round into a parked car in front of the house. He is charged with two counts of First Degree Reckless Endangerment, two counts of Second Degree Menacing, Second Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and Fourth Degree Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.
Following a search warrant being issued at the residence, Jamestown Police also arrested 42-year old Larry Whitehill Jr. on outstanding city court warrants. Hammer and Whitehill were sent to the City Jail where they are being held pending arraignment.

Chautauqua County District Attorney Patrick Swanson Friday announced several sentences that were recently handed down in county court, including one for a Jamestown man who was no stranger to the law.

The DA’s office reports that 31 year-old Rocco Beardsley was sentenced on Jan. 12 by Supreme Court Judge Paul Wojtaszek on three counts; a determinate sentence of four years in state prison plus two years of post-release supervision after being convicted of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree; a determinate sentence of two years in state prison plus two years of post-release supervision after being convicted of Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine in the 3rd Degree; and a determinate sentence of five years in state prison plus two years of post-release supervision after being convicted of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree. All sentences run concurrently.

Several others were also sentenced to time in state prison, including:

  • Cody A. Didomenico, 23 of Jamestown, was sentenced on January 26 by Acting County Court Judge John L. LaMancuso on one count; an indeterminate sentence of one and one-third to four years in state prison, after being convicted of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree.
  • Melvin J. Ingram, 39 of Jamestown, was sentenced on February 9 by Supreme Court Judge Paul Wojtaszek on one count; a determinate sentence of four years in state prison plus three years of post-release supervision, after being convicted of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree.
  • Juan C. Pinto-Garcia, 62 of Jamestown, was sentenced on February 9 by Supreme Court Judge Paul Wojtaszek on one count; a determinate sentence of four years in state prison plus one year of post-release supervision, after being convicted of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree.
  • Cesar L. Soto, 39 of Jamestown, was sentenced on February 9 by Supreme Court Judge Paul Wojtaszek on three counts; a determinate sentence of six years in state prison plus three years of post-release supervision after being convicted of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree; an indeterminate sentence of two to four years in state prison after being convicted of Attempted Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree; and an indeterminate sentence of two to four years in state prison after being convicted of Attempted Strangulation in the 2nd Degree. All sentences run concurrently.
  • Joshua Hammer, 29 of Dunkirk, was sentenced on February 9 by Acting County Court Judge James Bargnesi on three counts; a determinate sentence of four years in state prison plus two years of post-release supervision after being convicted of Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine in the 2nd Degree; a determinate sentence of two and one-half years in state prison plus one years of post-release supervision after being convicted of Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine in the 3rd Degree; and an indeterminate sentence of one to three years in state prison after being convicted of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree. All sentence run concurrently.
