Jamestown will be hosting the 2023 Babe Ruth 13-15 Year Old World Series at Diethrick Park from August 12th-19th.

The local committee is looking for girls ages 13 to 15 to be Diamond Girls, formerly called Hostesses. Diamond girls serve as ambassadors to the teams and must be available for the length of the series.

The commitee is also looking for families to serve as Host Family Ambassadors. Families serve as ambassadors to a team in an effort to support them throughout the series.

The World Series will take place August 12 though 19. This will be the 19th World Series held in Jamestown between 1980 and 2023.

On Thursday, August 10th, the eight Regional Champions from across the United States (New England, Middle Atlantic, Ohio Valley, Southeast, Southwest, Mid-West Plains, Pacific Northwest, Pacific Southwest) will arrive in Jamestown. Joining these eight teams will be the Western New York State Champion and a Host Team from the Jamestown area. All teams will participate in the week-long tournament with the Champion being crowned on Saturday, August 19th.

The local World Series Committee is asking businesses, organizations, and clubs to help support the event through a stadium buy-out.

Buy-outs allow the stadium gates to be open for free to attendees for an entire day of games.

Buy-out sponsors receive a half page ad in the souvenir booklet, the opportunity to throw out a first pitch, and opportunity to select a vocalist or musician the sponsor knows to perform the National Anthem. In addition, sponsors will receive recognition in media releases as well as sponsor announcements in the ball park.

Board of Directors Member Kim Ecklund said Tuesday, August 17th and Wednesday, August 18th are still available to sponsor for the series that’s held at Diethrick Stadium on August 14th through 21st. The sponsor fee is $25-hundred dollars and makes it possible for spectators to see that date’s games for free.

The Babe Ruth World Series board is also looking for vocalists or musicians to perform the National Anthem at games. The board also is looking for local religious leaders to provide an invocation before each game.

Additionally, a parade will take place on Third Street at 6 p.m., Friday, August 13th. Parade organizers are looking for bands, participants and organizations that will want to be a part of this event.
