WRFA public affairs director Jason Sample talks with Hannah Braun with the Chautauqua County Humane Society about several events and initiatives underway, including the upcoming CCHS Open House on Saturday, April 30. The open house will reveal CCHS’s capital campaign, as well as celebrate and highlight the achievements of the CCHS donors and volunteers. The event will be held at the Strunk Road adoption center.

Refreshments will be served throughout the event.

10 a.m. to Noon: Volunteer/Donor Appreciation & Capital Campaign Reveal.
Noon to 4 p.m.: Open House.

Artwork of CCHS animals created by the art students at Jamestown High School will also be on display throughout the shelter.

The community, local businesses and the five radio stations of Media One Group helped raise a record high $32,439.58 for the shelter’s upcoming building expansion and renovation project. This was the tenth year for the P4P campaign.

The P4P campaign began on Feb. 12 and ran through the end of April; however P4P donations are accepted year-round.

“With the help of our very generous community we were able to exceed our goal this year,” said Hannah Braun, community relations coordinator for CCHS. “Peek N’ Peak, South Hills Country Club, Shults Auto Group, Cummins Inc., and multiple local schools were champions this year by holding their own special events with proceeds to benefit the shelter.”

Aside from special events, hundreds of individuals came to the shelter and the Second Chances Thrift Stores to donate loose change they had been saving for the animals. Over 100 specially marked P4P containers and memorial paw prints could be found at local business and organizations throughout the county during the two-month campaign.
