Governor of New York will be making an appearance in Jamestown.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Thursday morning for New Flyer, the Canadian transit bus company that opened a manufacturing location at the former Fluvanna Quality Markets.

The event is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. with Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul expected to be on hand, along with city and county development officials and representatives from Ed Shults Real Estate, which owns the property and is leasing it to New Flyer.

The New Flyer project is the result of the Start-Up NY project, along with funding support from both the county IDA and Jamestown Local Development Corporation.

Currently 34 people are already working at the facility, which makes parts for the New Flyer bus lines.

Last Friday, Lt. Gov. Hochul was in Jamestown to present the governor’s 2017-18 state budget and highlight the initiatives that would impact Jamestown and Chautauqua County.

JAMESTOWN – The Shults Auto Group in Jamestown is seeking the community’s assistance in making the holidays brighter for underprivileged children in the area.

Ed Shults Ford Lincoln Hyundai of Jamestown is supporting The Resource Center’s annual Toys for Tots drive by creating the “Fill the F-150” initiative.  Area residents can stop into the company’s location at 2257 Washington Street and drop off a donation of a new, unwrapped toy.  Shults officials hope to receive enough toys to fill the bed of a Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The Shults dealership also will be donating to Toys for Tots $10 for every vehicle sold during December.

The Resource Center has been coordinating the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots drive in Chautauqua County every year since 2001.  Last year, about 2,340 children received gifts through TRC’s Toys for Tots drive.

For more information or to support the toy drive, phone 483-2344.
