Kenneth Mosley

A Jamestown man was arrested for falsely saying someone had a gun outside the Brooklyn Square CVS that led to the store being locked down.

Jamestown Police report they responded to CVS on South Main Street yesterday to a report of a person with a gun.

CVS staff had locked down the building and relocated customers and staff inside to a safe location. Police said 40-year old Kenneth Mosley, who was the person who called 9-1-1 in the incident, told them that someone in the parking lot threatened to shoot him and had a gun in his hand. After Mosley’s story changed several times, police reviewed video surveillance which they say did not show that the incident had happened.

Mosley was taken into custody and charged with 3rd Degree Falsely Reporting an Incident. He has been released on an appearance ticket.

CVS, Walgreens Agree to Pay $10.7 Billion in Settlement of Opioid Lawsuit https://www.wrfalp.com/cvs-walgreens-agree-to-pay-10-7-billion-in-settlement-of-opioid-lawsuit/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=cvs-walgreens-agree-to-pay-10-7-billion-in-settlement-of-opioid-lawsuit https://www.wrfalp.com/cvs-walgreens-agree-to-pay-10-7-billion-in-settlement-of-opioid-lawsuit/#respond Tue, 13 Dec 2022 11:40:30 +0000 https://www.wrfalp.com/?p=48698

Letitia James

CVS and Walgreens have agreed to pay state and local governments a combined total of $10.7 billion to settle lawsuits over the toll of opioids.

New York Attorney General Letitia James co-led a coalition of attorneys general in negotiating the settlement.

The Walgreens payments could total up to $5.52 billion over 15 years. The CVS payments could reach $4.9 billion over 10 years. Additionally, the companies have announced tentative payments to Native American tribes totaling more than $250 million.

Like other opioid settlements, the agreements call for governments that receive money to use it to fight the drug crisis.

Under the deals, about $1.2 billion would be set aside for lawyers’ fees and legal expenses.

The companies also have agreed to monitor, report and share data about suspicious activity related to opioid prescriptions.

Under the separate deals, states have until December 31 to agree to drop claims over opioids against Walgreens and CVS to receive the maximum payouts.

If there aren’t enough states participating, the companies can back out.

If there is sufficient sign-on from states, local governments can also sign on to get shares.

The amount awarded to governments is based on their populations and the severity of the opioid crisis there. States will get bigger amounts if more of their local governments agree.

JAMESTOWN – City police have made a second arrest in connection to the robbery of the CVS pharmacy that took place on March 26.

According to Jamestown Police Captain Robert Samuelson, 29 year-old Dennis Harmon was picked up by officers after police notified the public and other law enforcement agencies that he was a person of interest in the case. Police named Harmon a person of interest on Friday afternoon. By Saturday night he was in police custody.

Lawson was arrested last week following an investigation by police. Officers believe he was also involved in a similar robbery that took place at the 7-Eleven convenience store on N. Main St, which took place on March 24.

The two are not believed to be connected to a third robbery that occurred at the East Second Street 7-Eleven on April 1. The suspect in incident is still at large, and is described as a 6-foot to 6-foot-2-inch black man with a thin build.
