The Babes will host Youngstown, Ohio’s Little Steel Derby Girls for the 5th Annual Summer Bruise-In.

The 2015 Babes of Wrath Roller Derby season begins Saturday, June 27 at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the action starts at 7:30. Tickets are $10, available at the arena box office, or through the arena web site.

As always, the Babes of Wrath will donate a portion of their proceeds to local charities this season.

After the bout, the teams will host an after party in the Bud Light Arena Club where you can meet your favorite skaters and find out more about this fast growing sport.

Flat track roller derby is a fast-paced, contact sport. Speed, strategy, and athleticism are combined in a sport that require players to play offense and defense at the same time. Players and league members are all volunteers from the community, from all walks of life, supporting a challenging and competitive sport. JAMESTOWN – Roller Derby action is returning to Jamestown this weekend with the Chautauqua County Roller Derby’s Slay Belles: Christmas in July bout at Allen Park. The Babes of Wrath of Jamestown will face the Queen City Roller Girls’ B-Lo Zeros, with action scheduled to begin at 7:30 inside the Allen Park Ice Rink.

The Babes of Wrath represent Chautauqua and Warren counties in one of the fastest growing sports in the country, and over 1200 women’s flat track roller derby leagues worldwide. All Babes of Wrath bouts raise money for charity, and proceeds from this bout will benefit Lakers Sled Hockey.

All Babes of Wrath bouts raise money for charity, and proceeds from the 4th Annual Summer Bruise In will benefit the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue.

JAMESTOWN – The final Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby event of the 2013 season will be taking place Saturday night (Sept. 21) in Jamestown. Chautauqua County’s own Babes of Wrath will host SCHOOL OF HARD BLOCKS at the Allen Park Ice Rink. The team will be taking on the Imperial Forces (Cortland, NY).

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with game kicking off at 7:30 p.m.. Pre-sale tickets are available for $8 at Labyrinth Press Co., Spike Daily’s in Dunkirk or you can purchase them from your favorite Derby Girl. Tickets will be available for $10 at the door. Free admission for kids 12 and under.

A post-bout Meet-n-Greet is scheduled to take place at Forte in downtown Jamestown.

The Babes of Wrath roller derby team’s next bout is Sunday, June 9 at Allen Park.

JAMESTOWN – Roller Derby returns to Jamestown this weekend as the Chautauqua County’s women’s flat track roller derby team – the Babes of Wrath – takes on the Nightmares on Main Street from Corry, PA.

The bout is set for Sunday, June 9th at Allen Park Ice Rink (200 Elizabeth Avenue, Jamestown). Doors open at 4 pm and the whistle blows at 5 pm. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Meals on Wheels, a local organization that provides affordable meals to seniors in the area.

A Classic car cruise in will also take place from 3 to 5 p.m. at the park and is free to attend. Presale tickets can be purchased for $8 at the Labyrinth Press Co., the Russel Roller Rink or any member of the Babes of Wrath. Tickets at the gate will cost $10. Kids 12 and under get in for free.

The bout will take place at Allen Park Ice Rink and feature the Babes battling the Niagara Roller Girls, from Niagara Falls, Ont.

The Babes of Wrath roller derby team will have its final bout of the 2012 season on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012.

JAMESTOWN – The final Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby event of the 2012 season will be taking place Saturday night in Jamestown. Chautauqua County’s own Babes of Wrath will host GIRLS’ NIGHT B’OUT at the Allen Park Ice Rink. The team will be taking on the Hellbilly Heartbreakers from Olean. A 50/50 drawing will also be held to raise funds for Infinity Visual and Performing Arts, Inc.

Doors open at 6 PM, with game kicking off at 7 pm. Pre-sale tickets are available for $8 at Labyrinth Press Co., Spike Daily’s in Dunkirk or you can purchase them from your favorite Derby Girl. Tickets will be available for $10 at the door. Free admission for kids 12 and under, with half-time games and prizes.

This will be the last home bout of the season. After the game, adults are invited to join the team at the Ramada in downtown Jamestown for an after party and meet-and-great.

Lawmakers will also act on a resolution allowing the Chautauqua County Roller Derby Association to use the Allen Park Ice Rink at a cost of $250 for three more of its upcoming bouts, the first of which will take place this Saturday, June 30.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the city council chambers. A work session begins at 7 p.m. on the 4th floor of city hall in the Mayor’s Conference Room. Both are open to the public.

At 7:15 p.m, the council’s finance committee will meet, to review several items, including an agreement between the city and the Chautauqua County Roller Derby Association for the purpose of using the Allen Park Ice Rink the weekend of June 30, July 31 and October 6 for Roller Derby Bouts. The Roller Derby Association and its team – The Babes of Wrath – have already had one bout at the Allen Park Ice Rink – which took place on May 5 and by all accounts was a successful and well attended event.

The council’s Public Safety committee will also meet at 7:15 p.m. to review several resolutions, including the roller derby resolution. IN addition, the committee will review a Special Event Application for the Juneteenth Festival. Another Request is from Falconer Central School to use Tracy Plaza on June 21, 2012 for a reception following graduation ceremonies.

Following the committee meetings, the full council will hold a work session at 7:30 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.
