Chautauqua County Sheriff deputies say area fire crews were called to a fire at the home at 4835 Kortwright Road just after 2 p.m. Thursday and found the home fully involved on arrival. As a result, they were unable to get inside the home to make sure everyone was out.

After bringing the blaze under control, crews found the body of two year old Eli Shetler on the 3rd floor.

Fire officials said that children playing with matches was the cause of the fire. Sheriff deputies say the investigation is continuing but its unlikely any charges will be filed. About a dozen fire companies were called to the scene.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office says the Busti Fire Department was called to a house fire at about 11 p.m. Tuesday night and found the home fully involved on arrival.

The fire was ruled accidental after the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team determined the blaze was caused by an electric blanket that was on a bed and was left on. There were no injuries reported during the fire. No one was home at the time of the fire and the Red Cross is assisting the homeowner.

The Busti Volunteer fire department was assisted at the scene by fire crews from Celoron, Frewsburg, Kiantone, Lakewood, Panama and Sugar Grove.
