Two Jamestown men are in jail after Police say they broke into a business on Cherry Street early Thursday morning.

Jamestown Police said they received a 9-1-1 call just before 4:30 a.m. from Cherry Street business, Gypsy Moon Cake Company, about two people breaking into the store front next door. When officers arrived, the suspects tried to run away down West Second Street, but were caught.

Police arrested 28 year old Steven Becker and 34-year old Erik Morrison on burglary, criminal mischief, and obstruction charges. They were arraigned in City Court and sent to the County Jail in Mayville.

At about 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, sheriff’s deputies responded to an in-progress burglary that was occurring on Route 380 in the Town of Stockton. Deputies arrived on scene to find that the homeowner and another family member had blocked in a vehicle belonging to the suspects, in order to prevent them from fleeing.

Further investigation found that Alfred Kohl, age 53, Lisa Hayes, 41, and Brooke Amatuzzo, 33, were caught in the middle of burglarizing the home.

The property that they successfully removed from the home, and the property that they were attempting to remove from the home, included firearms. All of the property was located and turned back over to the homeowner.

All three individuals were charged with

  • Burglary – 1st Degree
  • 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon – 2nd Degree
  • 2 counts of Grand Larceny – 4th Degree
  • Attempted Grand Larceny – 4th Degree
  • Attempted Petit Larceny.

Amatuzzo was also found to be in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine and a hypodermic instrument. She was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree and Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument.

All three individual were taken to the county jail for centralized arraignment proceedings.

Lakewood-Busti Police were called to Walmart to respond to an alleged theft of merchandise. Officers investigated the incident and eventually located the suspect – identified as 38-year-old Shawn Garrett of Jamestown. Garrett is accused of allegedly stealing a backpack from the store and also violating a trespass warning from the store, making the crime a burglary. Police say while in custody, Garrett allegedly intentionally wiped his sweaty forehead on an officer’s bare arm. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Garrett was charged with 3rd degree menacing. He was also in possession of a hypodermic needle and did not have a needle exchange card.

Garrett was also charged with 3rd degree burglary, petit larceny, and criminally possessing hypodermic needle and sent to the county jail for arraignment.

JAMESTOWN – Two city men were arrested Wednesday following an investigation into the burglary of thousands of dollars worth of electronics from a downtown business.

The Jamestown Police Department says 29-year-old Bryan Novaro and 24-year-old Anthony Lackner were arrested after officers recovered several computers and equipment found to have been stolen from Digitell Inc. on East Third Street.

An investigation found that the business had been burglarized Tuesday night, with video surveillance showing someone entering and leaving with about $20,000 worth of computers and accessories. Officers identified the person captured on surveillance as Novaro, who was spotted walking on North Main Street with several of the stolen laptops. The city man is facing charges of third-degree burglary and grand larceny.

Patrol officers also located Lackner at a Franklin Street residence. After being found in possession of the stolen equipment, he was taken into custody on charges of criminal possession of stolen property.

Some computers are still being sought and might have the names “System 76” or “MSI” labeled on them.

JAMESTOWN – Jamestown police are asking for the public’s help in an investigation involving the theft of motorcycles from an east side business.

City police say Hector’s Cycle at 1200 E. Second St. in Jamestown was burglarized around 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. An investigation found that two suspects entered the business after breaking out a window while a third suspect waited outside. The suspects then took three small motorcycles from the business and pushed them out of the business towards the Jamestown Community College campus.

Two of the motorcycles have since been recovered. The third motorcycle is still missing. It is described as a yellow and white Suzuki 50 motocross motorcycle.

Anyone with information on the burglary, the suspects, or the whereabouts of the missing motorcycle is asked to call city police at 483-7537 or by leaving an anonymous tip at 483-TIPS (8477) or on the Tips 411 App.

Police say deputies were called to a location in the Village of Mayville on Sept. 19 for report of burglary. An investigation determined that 33-year-old Michael Kleckner of Silver Creek allegedly entered a residence without permission and stole over $9,000 in property while also causing damage to the home.

Kleckner was arrested on a warrant, arraigned on multiple charges, and sent to the county jail with no bail.

An article in the Post-Journal say 25 year-old Jody Crissman of Jamestown and 24 year-old Kyle Samuelson of Conewango Valley were both charged for allegedly breaking into a home on Big Tree Rd. and attempting to steal property.

The homeowner reportedly went to check on the property and reportedly found Crissman hiding in the basement. He was held at gunpoint by the property owner until police arrived. Samuelson reportedly fled the scene but was located a short time later.

Crissman and Samuelson were arraigned on burglary-related charges and sent to the County Jail on $75,000 cash bail.

Both were charged with felony third-degree burglary, criminal mischief and obstructing governmental administration. They were awaiting arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

Members of the Jamestown Police Department were called to a location on Tower St. for a report of a suspect entering a residence and taking property from a young child. During an investigation, officers located several subjects at a nearby residence, with one of them allegedly involved in the burglary and the others accused of interfering with their investigation.

Police arrested a 16-year-old, whose name is not being released, on a charge of 2nd Degree Burglary (Felony), 4th Degree Grand Larceny (Felony), Child Endangerment, Obstructing Governmental Administration, and Resisting Arrest.

Also charged were: 38 year-old Anthony Cunningham Jr., 22 year-old Tre Frank, and 18 year-old Isiah Payne, each for obstructing governmental administration; another 16 year-old, whose name was also not released, was charged for obstructing governmental administration; and 18 year-old Devon Jackson for criminal possession of marijuana and a controlled substance.

Police also say that while transporting the two minors, they allegedly hid narcotic evidence in the back of the patrol vehicle. As a result, both were additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Physical Evidence (Felony).

Police say the investigation is continuing.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a report of a burglary at about 4pm Thursday in Village of Sinclairville. After an investigation, it police determined that 26-year-old Peter McTaggart unlawfully entered a building and removed property that did not belong to him.

Mctaggart was taken into custody and charged with Burglary 3rd, Petit larceny, and Criminal possession of stolen property 5th. He was arraigned in the Town of Charlotte Court and remanded to Chautauqua County Jail.
