Organizations receiving Project Pool Grant program funds include:
· Ahira Hall Memorial Library: Aspired Arts to Inspire
· Ashville Free Library: Claying around at the library
· Audubon Community Nature Center: Enchanted Forest Costume Heads
· Dunkirk Public Library: Traveling Lantern Theater Company
· Falconer Public Library: All Together Now with Art and Music
· Kennedy Free Library: Art Classes

Individual Artists receiving funds include:
· Marygrace Anderson: NYS Art Teacher Association Great Camp Sagamore Summer Institute 2023
· Thomas Annear: New Framing Space in Studio
· Sara Atkins: Natik, Volume One
· Miles Hilton: Through the Roots
· Ashley Ordines: Minutiae

In addition to providing operating support for six of the county’s larger arts organizations, the UAA makes these annual grant awards for artistic projects. To apply, organizations must have nonprofit status; individuals must have been Chautauqua County residents for at least one year and can work in any artistic discipline.

JAMESTOWN – Infinity Visual and Performing Arts will be hosting its 5th Annual Art Market and Auction on Saturday, March 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Infinity Arts Café in Jamestown. This event will be a mid-campaign celebration to Infinity’s Step Up for the Arts Annual Campaign event.

WRFA’s Jason Sample recently talked with Infinity executive director Shane Hawkins and associate director Mariah Melendy to get more details about the event.

The art market will feature work for sale from an eclectic variety of talented local artists, an art auction of locally made art (auction proceeds to benefit Infinity), and an array of fun, family and arts-based activities including an Infinity student art show. Infinity’s Art Market and Auction will features 20 or more artists.

This year’s Art Auction will feature a private collection of pottery and ceramic art created by the late Douglas Hay as well as pieces from local artists. Douglas’ wife Carol Hay generously donated these auction items to Infinity for the Art Market and Auction event. All proceeds from the auction will support music and arts education experiences for young people at the Infinity Center.

Auction items can be viewed online at Infinity’s Local Artist Showcase Facebook page at: www.Facebook.com/LocalArtistShowcase. Online pre-bids are also being accepted until Friday, March 8.

“With all of the talented artists, both at Infinity, and throughout the area, I feel fortunate to be able to bring so many of them together for this event,” said Infinity Associate Director and event coordinator Mariah Melendy. “Come check out the incredible arts and craftsmanship associated with Infinity.”

JAMESTOWN – Over 100 Under 100 holiday art show opens Nov. 10 at 3rd on 3rd Gallery.

The annual Over 100 Under 100 local and regional art exhibit will open Saturday, Nov. 10 with a free public reception at 6 p.m. Each piece of artwork is priced at $100 or lower in order to encourage holiday gift-givers and art lovers to shop locally. The show is scheduled to run through December 22.

Featured artists include: Sandy Pickert, Mandy Gervaise, Stephanie Zwyghuizen, Kathleen Tenpas, Don Hill, Lauren McGrath, Peter Garami, Wendy Bale, Lyn Harris, Debra Eck, Ashley Ordines, Gary Peters Jr., Susan Gutierrez, Karen Glosser, Cam Glosser and Katherine Stuart.

3rd on 3rd Gallery is located at 108 E. 3rd St. and is part of Reg Lenna Center for The Arts. WRFA’s Jason Sample talks with local artist Ashley Ordines, who will present her exhibit Machines at the 3rd on 3rd Gallery beginning Sept. 4 at 10 a.m., with a free public reception on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.  The exhibit continues until Sept. 22.

Machines is a series of abstract, watercolor/pen and ink illustrations that focuses on elements of design, fantasy and minimalism, coupled with inspiration from nature and every-day objects. Each piece is representative of a functioning, mechanical “machine” with an abstract twist. Machines is made possible in part by support from the United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County Projects Pool Grants Program.

SWAN 2013″, an art show, opens this Saturday at 3rd On 3rd Gallery in Jamestown. The exhibition features new photographs and art from Jennifer Randall, Angela Caley, Debra Eck, Jennifer Schlick and Ashley Ordines. The reception begins at 6 p.m. A $5 charge covers gallery fees, food and beverages. Patrons under the age of 18 are admitted free. The show will be open to the public through April 5.

Other events in Jamestown will promote Support Women Artists Now throughout March and April. “Girls Rock 6″, a live music concert on Friday March 29, will begin at 10pm at Mojo’s Music Bar. Area musicians, singers and songwriters performing are Kate Elfman, Lori Burke, Amanda Barton, Marla Harris, Gina Vecchio and organizer, Cindy Haight.

On Saturday April 20, Infinity Visual and Performing Arts will host an art market featuring the work of female artists and artisans. A lunchtime lecture about the history of women artists will be held across the street at the Reg Studio Theater. Throughout the day, 3rd On 3rd Gallery will remain open for Audrey Dowling’s art show, “Comfort Zones”. More details will be released at www.infinityperformingarts.org.
