MORNING NEWS: Edwards Announces Committee to Help Select VSA Director

August 21, 2013 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards announced today that a bi-partisan committee has been established to review qualified applications for the Veterans Services Agency Director position.

Serving on the four-member committee are legislators Keith Ahlstrom (D-Dunkirk) and Vince Horrigan (R-Bemus Point), along with Troy Smith, New York State Veteran Counselor and Sergeant 1st Class in the U.S. Army; and William Tucker, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Southwestern New York and Lieutenant Colonel of the U.S. Marine Corps.

The committee will review all applications for the Veterans Service Agency Director position and will create a short list of the most qualified candidates to be referred to the County Executive. The County Executive will then interview each recommended candidate and select the top applicant to be hired for this position.

Applications for the director position are being accepted through September 3, 2013. Interested candidates should complete a Chautauqua County Application for Examination or Employment, which is available on the Human Resources webpage at www.co.chautauqua.ny.us.

The Veterans Service Agency Director position became available when former director Doug Diers resigned from his position to pursue other opportunities.

For more information please visit www.co.chautauqua.ny.us or call the Department of Human Resources at (716) 753- 4237.
