MORNING NEWS: Cummins Rep Attends Manufacturing Caucus Event in Washington

February 8, 2013 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

In News of out Washington, Congressmen Tom Reed and Tim Ryan, Co-Chairs of the bipartisan House Manufacturing Caucus, held the Caucus’ first event of the 113th Congress earlier this week.

A “Manufacturing 101” event was held in the nation’s capitol and included presentations from representatives of the National Association of Manufacturers, Cummins Inc. in Jamestown, and the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute in Youngstown, Ohio.

Congressman Reed said that Tuesday’s event was a great way to kick off the Manufacturing Caucus and get Members of Congress engaged in the Manufacturing industry and identify ways to maximize the industry’s growth.

Cummins Director of Governmental Relations, Emily Foster, was on hand and shared the business’s experiences in the current economic climate – stressing how the uncertainty of the national debt is impacting the company’s ability to make future economic projections.

Cummins employs more than 17,000 individuals in the United States and 1,400 in Chautauqua County.

Congressman Reed said the Manufacturing Caucus will continue to hold monthly events and briefings to educate House Members on manufacturing issues and the promotion of manufacturing in the United States.
