MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County Legislator Lori Cornell (D-Jamestown) is asking state leaders to reconsider a recent move by the Department of Motor Vehicles that could have an adverse impact on the snowmobile industry in the county. Cornell is calling for the return of local snowmobile club promotional material to the three county run Department of Motor Vehicles sites in Jamestown, Mayville and Dunkirk. The request stems from state DMV officials coming into the local offices and ordering the removal of snowmobile club promotional material.
Cornell says she will be contacting the Governor and New York State DMV Commissioner Barbara Fiala to ask that the state to ease up on its stance of not allowing promotional items in state offices, and instead help support one of the county’s major wintertime economic drivers.
