Another local business will be laying off a large number of employees in the coming weeks. The Jamestown Post-Journal is reporting this morning that Carriage House in Dunkirk has given a 90-day layoff notice to 118 workers. The announcement came from Ralcorp Holdings Inc., the current Carriage House owners, and was delivered Thursday to company officials and union representatives.
Company officials say the layoffs are due to the closure of the Talcott St., facility, with that operation being relocated to maximize capacity and capabilities at other facilities within the United States. The layoffs will affect both hourly and salaried employees. The layoffs will take place within 14 days of the closing date of April 5.
