[LISTEN] Community Matters – Chautauqua County DA Patrick Swanson and Sheriff James Quattrone

September 23, 2019 By WRFA Radio 4 Comments

  • ALSO AVAILABLE AT THE WRFA SOUNDCLOUD PAGE

WRFA’s Jason Sample talks with Chautauqua County District Attorney Patrick Swanson and Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone about the impact the recent Criminal Justice Reform measures enacted by the State Legislature will have the local criminal justice system and their respective offices.  According to Swanson and Quattrone, the state’s bail reform efforts as well as reform measures relating to the discovery phase of a criminal investigation could have a negative impact on public safety unless each office is provided with additional resources.

Sure community matters,if you've been arrested 29 other times for the same thing,if your jamestowns bill cosby….been extradited to florida for felony stalking…that part of our community matters…. that's what I've seen. Good luck Sheriff.youll need it.

Has there been any guests on the show such as defense attorneys or legistators that may have some different opinions on this topic?

No one who is an elected official in Chautauqua County has spoken out on it with differing opinions. The majority of the state legislature and the governor obviously have different opinions but so far no one has reached out to us. Perhaps this conversation will spur someone to contact us and request an opportunity to also speak on the issue.
