Jamestown City Lawmakers Meet Tonight in City Hall

June 18, 2012 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

JAMESTOWN – Members of the Jamestown City Council will be meeting later today in committee and work session. The council’s housing committee will meet at 6:45 p.m. on the 4th floor of city hall. Among the items it will discuss is the use of Urban Initiative Funds for the purchase of additional property on West 5th Street and West 6th Street.

At 7:15 p.m, the council’s finance committee will meet, to review several items, including an agreement between the city and the Chautauqua County Roller Derby Association for the purpose of using the Allen Park Ice Rink the weekend of June 30, July 31 and October 6 for Roller Derby Bouts. The Roller Derby Association and its team – The Babes of Wrath – have already had one bout at the Allen Park Ice Rink – which took place on May 5 and by all accounts was a successful and well attended event.

The council’s Public Safety committee will also meet at 7:15 p.m. to review several resolutions, including the roller derby resolution. IN addition, the committee will review a Special Event Application for the Juneteenth Festival. Another Request is from Falconer Central School to use Tracy Plaza on June 21, 2012 for a reception following graduation ceremonies.

Following the committee meetings, the full council will hold a work session at 7:30 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.
