Jadlowski Re-Indicted on Charges Related to Hunting Incident that Claimed Life of Sherman Woman

March 19, 2018 By WRFA Radio 1 Comment

Thomas Jadlowski

SHERMAN – The Sherman man accused of fatally shooting his neighbor during a hunting incident last November has been re-indicted.

According to a joint-media release sent out late Monday morning by the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, 34 year-old Thomas Jadlowski was indicted by a Chautauqua County Grand Jury on a count of Second Degree Manslaughter and Hunting After Hours.

Jadlowski is accused of shooting and killing his neighbor, 43 year-old Rosemary “Rosie” Billquist, while she was walking her dogs in a field adjacent to her and her husband’s Sherman Home during the early evening of Nov. 22. At the time, Jadlowski had said he had mistaken Billquist for a deer. He reportedly rushed to her aid upon learning he had shot her, but she eventually died as a result of an bullet wound to her hip.

It’s the second time Jadlowski was indicted. Earlier this year Chautauqua County Judge David Foley threw out the initial indictment, due to a failure by the District Attorney’s office to properly provide the grand jury with details involving a lesser charge than second degree manslaughter.

Chautauqua County District Attorney Patrick Swanson stated in the media release,“We’re pleased that this case
is back in the posture it was four weeks ago and again moving forward. I want to thank all the agencies involved in re-presenting this matter.”

Jadlowski previously pleaded not guilty to charges of Manslaughter and Hunting After Hours, which is illegal in New York state. He is currently out on bail, which was set at $50,000.  If convicted, he could spend 5 to 15 years in prison.

He will be back in court on May 21.
