Four Men in Custody Following Investigation into Tuesday Morning Burglary and Shooting

July 2, 2014 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

Jamestown Police BadgeJAMESTOWN – Jamestown police have now charged four men in connection to a home invasion that included gunfire being exchanged between one of the suspects and city police. However, investigators say as many as three other individuals could still be on the loose.

Jamestown Police Captain Robert Samuelson says two of the suspects were found hiding inside of the apartment at 188 Falconer St. shortly after the incident took place early Tuesday morning. Two other suspects brought in Tuesday afternoon when they were spotted walking the railroad tracks in nearby Celoron.

City police were called to the address on Falconer St. just after 3 a.m. Tuesday morning to respond to a reported fight in progress. While inside the apartment, police saw three men escaping through a window with one of the suspects allegedly firing at an officer. The officer – who was not injured in the incident – fired back and may have hit the individual. However, all three men were able to flee the area before being captured by police.

During the investigation, police located two other men hiding inside the residence and charged them with first-degree burglary for their role in the home invasion. Their names are not being released at this time. Officers also found a large caliber handgun outside the residence.

Later Tuesday, after receiving several reports, police were arrested two individuals who matched suspect descriptions walking on the railroad tracks in Celoron. Both were taken into custody after initially trying to flee from police. They are being held on parole violations and as persons of interest in the home invasion.

Police are still looking for as many as three additional suspects involved in the incident and one who may be injured as a result of the gunfire exchange with police.

Police say the incident was drug related. Anyone who has information on this or the whereabouts of any of the participants is asked to contact the Jamestown Police at 483-7357 or leave an anonymous tip at 483-8477 (Tips).

The New York State Police, Ellicott Police, Lakewood-Busti Police and county sheriff’s office all assisted the JPD in the investigation.
