JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Post-Journal says the Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputy who was injured in a head-on crash last week has been released from the hospital.
29-year-old Jason Hallmark of Mayville is now recovering at home from a neck fracture following the crash.
Hallmark was driving a Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle Friday on Straight Road in Sheridan around 9 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle — operated by 36-year-old Theona Szumigala of Fredonia — traveling northbound on Center Road.
Szumigala was treated and released at Brooks hospital in Dunkirk for non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
