JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown City Council’s Housing Committee will likely get more details about a proposed housing project on the north side of town when it meets Monday night at city hall.
Representatives from CODE Inc. will be on hand to provide information about their organization, including what housing development projects are currently managed by CODE, along with the possibility of answering questions regarding the Jackson Spring project.
“I’ve invited CODE to come to the Feb. 22 to discuss [The Jackson Spring development] – not necessary just that project, but to talk about their other projects and proposed housing developments in the city,” Housing Committee chair Marie Carrubba said during the council’s Feb. 8 work session.
The proposed $11 million Jackson Springs housing complex would reportedly include 45 apartments, 14 of which would be two-bedroom and the rest would be single bedroom. If built, the proposed development would be located on Spring St., between 8th and Crossman Streets. The project is being developed by The NRP Group, with assistance from CODE, which would manage the complex once completed.
During the January city council voting session, more than a dozen residents were in attendance to voice their concern with the project, especially since no details on the project had been released. They also voiced concern that the development could be similar to the Appleyard Terrace housing development on Second St., which is intended to help low income families. Since then the developers held a neighborhood meeting on the project, although the meeting was not publicized ahead of time.
The housing committee meeting is at 6:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22 on the 4th floor of city hall and will be open to the public.
The city council’s regular work session will take place at 7:30 p.m. and is also open to the public.
