JAMESTOWN – The Chautauqua Area Regional Transit System (CARTS) is pleased to announce that effective Monday, October 22, 2018 the new location for its City of Jamestown bus hub will be at 215 East Third Street in Jamestown.
The hub, which was temporarily stationed at Pine Street in Jamestown, will provide a central location for CARTS customers in the city. Renovations to the site in the coming months will also add a heated indoor waiting area and accessible bathroom facilities.
“There are many benefits to our new hub location,” said Brad Bentley, Chautauqua County Director of Public Facilities. “First and foremost, the new hub will provide location certainty to our customers. CARTS will be able to maintain this hub year-round without having to temporarily move its operations for city functions. In addition, with CARTS’ buses parking on site, it will free up street parking for area businesses.”
The site for the new bus hub is owned by George Patti III, who is active in downtown development. He developed and owns the former M&T Bank Building and is currently completing the new Jamestown Brewing Company building.
“I am happy that we were able to be part of this collaborative effort with Jamestown Renaissance Corporation to provide CARTS and the public with this centrally located site for use as the Downtown Jamestown Hub,” said Patti. “We look forward to working with CARTS to provide excellent transit service to the public.”

“On behalf of the county, I thank the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation (JRC) for its generous support of this new hub by covering all of the associated costs for the facility for a year with no cost to taxpayers,” said Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello. “Also, we are very grateful to George Patti, the owner of the location, for making this feasible and very affordable. We also thank the City of Jamestown for its flexibility to utilize the temporary CARTS hub location during the transition and for their assistance with expediting the process for the new location.”
The new hub is also in close proximity to vital services for Chautauqua County and city residents. It is close to the South County Office Building on Pine Street, which houses the Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services, Chautauqua County Probation Department, and The Chautauqua Center. It is also directly adjacent to Jamestown City Hall.
In the coming weeks, GPatti Development will be making additional improvements to the waiting area and restroom facilities at the bus hub. Not only will this new facility serve CARTS riders, it will also add an additional ADA complaint public restroom in the downtown area.
“This new hub location will enhance the CARTS service as well as improve conditions for our customers and for city residents and visitors,” said Borrello. “I am very pleased and grateful for the collaborative effort that brought about this improved location and facility.”
