Trenton Grant (left) and Isaiah Pearson were captured over the weekend by federal officials in Tennessee.

JACKSON, TENN – The man wanted in connection to a shooting that took place the night of Sept. 2 in Jamestown is now in police custody.

Jamestown city police say 20 year-old Trenton Grant was placed into custody by federal officials in Jackson, Tenn. In addition, police also say that 20 year-old Isaiah Pearson was located and placed into custody.

Both Grant and Pearson were also wanted in connection to an August burglary in Lakewood. It is believed the the gun used in the shooting was stolen from a private residence during the burglary.

Both men are being held in a Madison County, Tennessee jail until they can be extradited back to New York to answer to both local and federal charges.

The shooting took place just before 7:30 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Appleyard Terrace housing complex on East Second St. Police say Grant allegedly fired multiple shots from a handgun at a victim whose name is not being released. The victim is currently recovering from two gunshot wounds. Grant then fled the scene, leading to an extensive manhunt by local, state and federal law enforcement. Reports say one of the two men had relatives in Tennessee, explaining why they were located there over the weekend.

Police are still investigating the incident. Anyone with information into the shooting is asked to call the Jamestown Police Department at 483-7537 or call the department’s TIPS line at 483-8477. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.
